Stable Role in Ag Equipment Dealer
Pros: There's a strong sense of teamwork here, especially on the shop floor. I've definitely grown my technical skills working on John Deere and other agricultural machinery. Management is usually approachable, and the job security feels pretty reliable, which is important in this industry. It's a well-established dealership network, so you know the company isn't going anywhere.
Cons: While pay is fair for the heavy equipment industry, benefits could be more competitive compared to larger corporations. The workload can get intense during planting and harvesting seasons, leading to longer hours sometimes. There isn't a super clear path for career progression beyond senior technician, so advancement opportunities might be limited for some. Communication could also be a bit more consistent across departments.
Advice to Management: Consider enhancing the benefits package to better attract and retain talent. More structured career development programs and clearer promotion tracks would also be beneficial for employee motivation and growth within the company.

Solid Place to Grow in Ag Retail
Pros: I really value the job security at this John Deere dealership. As a Parts Manager in Johnson, KS, there's always a solid need for our services in the agricultural equipment sector. The team is supportive, and I've learned a lot. It's a consistent work environment.
Cons: Workload during planting and harvest seasons can get pretty intense. While job security is good, career progression for a Parts Manager isn't always super clear or fast. More structured development plans for long-term growth would be beneficial here.
Advice to Management: Continue fostering the strong team culture and providing resources during peak periods. Implement clearer, formalized career development and training programs to help employees visualize long-term growth. This will greatly benefit employee retention at the dealership.

Good, stable work in ag equipment
Pros: The best part about working at American Implement was the sense of camaraderie among the team. We always looked out for each other, especially during busy harvest seasons. I learned a lot about various types of farm machinery, which was great for my skill development. Being a part of the agricultural community in Kansas and supporting local farmers felt rewarding.
Cons: The pay and benefits package could be more competitive compared to other roles in the wider manufacturing or service industries. Sometimes, overtime was mandatory and could extend beyond ideal work-life balance, especially when equipment breakdowns occurred unexpectedly. Communication from higher leadership about strategic changes sometimes felt a bit distant.
Advice to Management: Consider enhancing the compensation and benefits structure to better align with industry standards. More proactive communication about company direction would also be beneficial for employee morale.
