Pros: The best part of working here is definitely the mission. You really feel like you're making a difference in people's lives, which is why I got into this field. The team I work with is fantastic; we all support each other and it makes tough days much easier. Management is generally approachable and willing to listen, and there are opportunities for training in the human services sector.
Cons: The pay could definitely be better, especially considering the demanding nature of the work. Sometimes there's a lack of clear communication from higher-ups about policy changes or staffing needs, which can lead to confusion. Also, while flexibility is present, reliance on scheduling can make balancing personal life a bit challenging at times.
Advice to Management: Consider more transparent communication regarding staffing and policy updates, and explore ways to improve compensation to better reflect the crucial work DSPs do.

The team collaboration is strong, and everyone is genuinely dedicated to our non-profit organization's mission, creating a very supportive work environment.
Cons: While work flexibility is generally excellent, there are specific times, especially during grant cycles, when the workload for Program Coordinators can become quite heavy. Sometimes communication on internal process changes could be a bit more proactive to prevent minor confusion.

Pros: The company culture at Ability Beyond is definitely a major highlight. There's a strong sense of community and teamwork, which is crucial in the social services industry. My colleagues and immediate supervisors were incredibly supportive, always willing to help out or offer guidance. This made my role as a Bilingual Employment Specialist feel much more manageable and impactful. The work itself is incredibly meaningful. Helping individuals with disabilities in the New Haven, CT area find
Cons: While the mission is fantastic, the workload for a Bilingual Employment Specialist can sometimes be quite demanding, particularly during busy periods. It often felt like there wasn't enough time in the day to fully address all client needs while also keeping up with administrative tasks. More support or streamlined processes could help here. Additionally, while there are learning opportunities, clear career progression paths aren't always immediately obvious for every role.
Advice to Management: Continue to invest in resources that help manage workload, perhaps by optimizing administrative processes or hiring additional support during peak times. Exploring more formalized career development frameworks could also benefit employees looking for long-term growth within the organization.
