Pros: As a Software Engineer, the hybrid work model with two WFH days was a lifesaver for me. It made managing personal appointments much easier. When projects aren't in crunch time, 40-hour weeks are definitely achievable in the Austin, TX office.
Cons: Project crunch times can get brutal though, especially in core software development. I've seen some colleagues work long hours, and it's not always well compensated. Some managers struggle to protect their teams from scope creep or unrealistic deadlines.
Advice to Management: Try to set more realistic project timelines. It's tough on Software Engineers when every other quarter is a mad rush. Protect your teams from constant crunch periods, especially in core software development.
