Solid Pay, Benefits Need Improvement
Working as a Software Engineer remotely for Johnson Controls has been a mixed bag. The pay's solid, which is a big plus for the building technologies industry, but the overall benefits package could use some work. It's a big corporate environment, so things can move a bit slow.
As a Software Engineer, the base salary is definitely competitive for this kind of remote role. The 401k match is decent, and it feels like a stable job in the building technologies sector.
The PTO policy isn't great compared to other tech companies; you don't get much at all. Raises are usually pretty small, and the annual performance bonuses aren't always transparent, which is tough.
Please reconsider the PTO structure to be more competitive for software engineers. Also, make the performance bonus system clearer and more rewarding to incentivize high performers.
