Solid pay, decent perks, but always a trade-off
Pros: Meta definitely pays well, especially for Software Engineer roles. The tech compensation package, including base salary and stock options, is really competitive for a big tech company. You're not going to feel underpaid here.
Cons: But sometimes it feels like they expect your whole life for it. The benefits are good, but there's a constant pressure to perform. I've seen other companies offer better work-life balance for similar pay, even in the Menlo Park office.
Advice to Management: Try to acknowledge the intense pressure and offer more support for work-life balance initiatives. People appreciate the pay, but burnout is real.

Solid Pay, Benefits for a Big Tech Role
Pros: The compensation package for a Software Engineer here is pretty solid. Base salary is competitive, and the stock options really make a difference. I've seen some of the best pay and benefit packages in big tech from Meta, especially for remote roles.
Cons: Sometimes the annual refreshers aren't as aggressive as you'd hope after a few years. It's tough when stock performance isn't great, as a big chunk of our total comp is tied to that. Also, the healthcare deductible can be a bit high.
Advice to Management: Focus on making annual stock refreshers more predictable and less reliant on market fluctuations. Consider lowering healthcare deductibles too.

Career growth is good, but you gotta push
Pros: There's a lot of scope for learning new tech, especially in AI/ML development. You can move between teams easily, which helps for career growth. As a remote Software Engineer, I still felt connected to projects.
Cons: You really have to advocate for yourself for promotions. Mentorship can be hit or miss depending on your manager. Sometimes, projects get deprioritized fast, which impacts skill development.
Advice to Management: Invest more in structured mentorship programs. Make career ladders clearer for all technical roles, not just top performers.
