Remote Work is Solid, But Team Matters
Pros: I've been able to work remotely from Texas since I started, which is huge for my personal life. As a Solutions Architect, managing my own schedule for customer calls and project work is pretty flexible. They're good about WFH options in the cloud computing industry.
Cons: While remote work is generally supported, some teams have higher expectations for quick responses, making truly flexible hours tough. You can feel a bit isolated sometimes, and getting face-time with leadership is hard when everyone's dispersed.
Advice to Management: Keep supporting remote work, but try to standardize expectations around availability across different teams to ensure true flexibility for everyone.

Nutanix Hybrid Work Is Decent, But Demanding
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the San Jose office, the hybrid work model is pretty solid here. You get some flexibility for WFH days, which is a big plus. It's a big tech company, so resources are usually there to support your work.
Cons: Sprints for new features in our enterprise software can get really intense, making consistent 40-hour weeks tough. There's a constant push for deadlines, and it often means working into evenings or sometimes even weekends. Doesn't always feel like a true work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project scopes better so engineering teams don't always feel swamped. More realistic timelines for our hybrid cloud product releases would help prevent burnout.

Nutanix is Solid, WFH Needs Work Now
Pros: I've been a Software Engineer here for a few years, and the initial work-from-home setup was great. Some teams still offer decent flexibility, especially for those not strictly tied to on-site labs in our enterprise cloud operations. The overall compensation package is also pretty good for big tech.
Cons: It's definitely pushing towards a more hybrid model, which is tough for folks who loved full remote. The expectation to be in the San Jose office 2-3 days a week can really impact my work-life balance. I wish there was more consistent support for remote work across all engineering teams.
Advice to Management: Listen to employee feedback on the hybrid models. True flexibility is a huge perk for retaining talent, especially for experienced engineering roles. Don't lose sight of what made remote work successful.
