Remote Work is a Solid Perk Here
Pros: I've really appreciated the work flexibility at this big tech company. As a Software Engineer, the ability to work remote from home most days is a huge benefit. It helps a lot with my personal schedule.
Cons: Sometimes the core hours can feel a bit restrictive for true global flexibility. While it's generally good, certain projects demand being more tied to specific timezones, which cuts into that WFH freedom. Not always a true 'work from anywhere' situation.
Advice to Management: Keep pushing for more true asynchronous work and less reliance on strict core hours across all teams. It would really enhance work flexibility and make the remote experience even better.

IBM's Remote Work is a Solid Perk
Pros: The remote work policy is great, especially as a Software Engineer. I get to manage my own hours mostly, which helps with life stuff. It's a solid benefit for big tech.
Cons: Sometimes it feels like you're out of the loop with the onsite teams. There's not always a clear path for advancement if you're not in a major hub. Communication can be a challenge.
Advice to Management: Focus on better integration for remote employees. Make sure career opportunities are truly equal, regardless of location.

IBM Offers Solid Remote Flexibility, Mostly
Pros: I've enjoyed the remote flexibility as a Software Engineer. The WFH policy is pretty solid for most technical roles, letting you manage your own schedule well. It's a big tech company, so they have the infrastructure for this.
Cons: Sometimes collaboration can be tough with a fully remote team. There's also pressure to be available beyond typical work hours in some teams. Not every manager fully embraces the flexibility, which can be annoying.
Advice to Management: Ensure all managers consistently support flexible work arrangements and encourage balanced schedules for remote employees. Standardize expectations across teams.
