Good pay, but career growth needs a push.
Pros: The pay and benefits are genuinely solid here for a big tech company. As a Solutions Architect, I got to work on some really interesting IT solutions projects. They also offer a decent hybrid work model.
Cons: My career growth felt a bit slow after a couple of years. There isn't always a clear promotion path, especially for individual contributor roles. Moving between different IT departments can be a real challenge.
Advice to Management: Focus more on creating clear career progression frameworks for technical individual contributors. Encourage and support internal mobility between different technology areas.

Leadership is hit or miss here, honestly
Pros: Some managers are really solid. They back their teams well in client engagements and understand technical challenges. Good support for senior technical roles.
Cons: There's a lot of inconsistency across different teams and departments. Upper management can feel pretty disconnected from day-to-day operations. You don't always feel heard, especially for solutions architects dealing with project scope changes.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize leadership training and expectations across all divisions. Make sure senior leaders are more accessible and responsive to feedback from individual contributors. Listen to what people in the St. Louis office are saying about project management challenges.

Leadership can be a real mixed bag.
Pros: I really liked the team culture here. As a Solutions Architect, I worked on some cutting-edge IT infrastructure projects, which was awesome for my career. The hybrid work setup in the St. Louis, MO office gave me good flexibility.
Cons: Leadership wasn't always consistent. Some senior managers just didn't seem aligned, which is tough in a big tech corporate environment. Communication from the top down could definitely improve for better direction.
Advice to Management: Focus on consistent leadership training across all levels. Make sure decision-makers are aligned and communicate changes more effectively to individual contributors.

Solid company, decent job security here
Pros: The company is big, so there's always work. Especially for IT solutions and data center projects, the demand is steady. It feels pretty stable as a Network Engineer, especially in the St. Louis area.
Cons: Growth can feel slow sometimes. You're expected to adapt to new tech fast, or your skills might get outdated for some new projects. It's a large corporate environment, so things move slower.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer internal career paths and quicker opportunities for upskilling in niche technologies to keep talent engaged. Don't let good people feel stagnant.

Work-Life Can Be Tricky Here
Pros: I've had good luck with the hybrid model, honestly. Being able to WFH a few days a week really helps manage personal stuff, which is a huge perk for this big tech company. For a Solutions Architect, you generally get decent autonomy on your day-to-day tasks.
Cons: The biggest issue is when project deadlines hit hard. You can expect a lot of late nights and sometimes weekend work, especially on crucial enterprise solutions deployments. It's tough to maintain consistent work-life balance then, and it can feel like you're constantly on call.
Advice to Management: Try to better distribute workloads and hire more staff for demanding IT consulting projects. It would help a lot if leadership emphasized protecting employee's off-hours more, especially during peak seasons.

Good Hybrid Work for Solutions Architects
Pros: The WFH options are a big plus here for many IT roles. I was able to manage a good hybrid work schedule, only coming into the St. Louis office a couple of days a week. It definitely helps with work-life balance.
Cons: Not all teams or roles get the same flexibility. Some projects definitely require more onsite time, which can be tough. It really depends on your manager and specific IT solutions group too.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize work flexibility policies across all departments, not just for certain IT solutions groups. Make sure it's fair for everyone.

Work-Life Balance Can Be Tough Here
Pros: The hybrid model is a huge plus, especially for us in the St. Louis office. My manager's pretty understanding if I need to adjust my schedule, which helps a lot. It's not a strict 9-to-5 always, so that's a decent perk for a big corporate place in the IT services industry.
Cons: Project deadlines can be brutal, especially as a Solutions Architect. You often end up working more than 40 hours during crunch times, and it's expected. It can really eat into your personal time, and sometimes it feels like there's always an urgent client request.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project scopes and client expectations to reduce the constant pressure for employees. Burnout is a real concern when people are always pushing past 40 hours for weeks on end.

Flexibility is okay, but it varies a lot
Pros: My team as a Solutions Architect was pretty good about the hybrid work model. I could often work remote a couple days a week from the St. Louis office. It definitely helps with personal appointments and general life stuff.
Cons: It really depends on your manager though, it's not consistent across World Wide Technology. Some folks in specific IT consulting roles have to be onsite way more often. Getting extra WFH days approved can be a real hassle sometimes.
Advice to Management: Standardize the work flexibility policy across all departments. It's tough when some teams get great WFH options and others don't, especially for technical roles.

Decent Flexibility, But Varies By Team
Pros: The hybrid work model is actually pretty good here, especially for Solutions Architect roles in the St. Louis office. You get some days remote, which is a nice perk for technology solutions work. My manager really supports work-life balance if you get your deliverables done.
Cons: Sometimes, working on complex network infrastructure projects means remote options disappear, forcing more onsite days than planned. Not all departments in this big tech corporate environment have the same level of flexibility; some teams are stuck in the office too often. It isn't always consistent.
Advice to Management: Standardize remote and hybrid work policies more across all departments. It would really help with consistency and prevent some teams from feeling left out.

Leadership is a mixed bag, depends on your team
Pros: My direct manager was pretty solid. They understood the demands of a Solutions Architect role and really backed the team. It's a stable company, which is nice in the IT solutions industry.
Cons: There's a noticeable lack of clear, consistent vision from senior leadership. Decisions often feel top-down without much context for the teams actually doing the network infrastructure work. This can lead to frustration and rework.
Advice to Management: Senior leadership needs to work on transparency and providing better context for strategic decisions. It would really help frontline managers and their teams understand the 'why' behind major shifts, especially for those of us working remotely on complex IT solutions.
