SCOR, one of the world’s largest reinsurers, serves more than 5,000 clients worldwide, providing a diversified and innovative range of solutions to control and manage risk. SCOR delivers advanced financial solutions, analytics and services across all dimensions of risk in Life & Health, Property & Casualty, and Investments.

Reinsurance lies at the intersection of technical expertise and scientific progress. Models, data, and pricing and reserving tools are essential, yet they are never sufficient on their own. Sound risk decisions require expert judgment, experience and perspective. This is what we call the Art and Science of Risk. Reinsurance is a knowledge industry, where expertise grows through accumulation, transmission and practice.

Across the Group, 3,600 experts based in more than 35 offices worldwide contribute to this collective intelligence. Actuaries, underwriters, risk management specialists, and Tech & Data experts transform data into insight, explore extreme scenarios, define the boundaries of insurability and help anticipate emerging risks. Together, they strengthen the resilience of SCOR, our clients and the societies we serve.

This expertise is built through shared experience, continuous questioning and collective reflection. Like artists, we belong to schools of thought, learning first to observe, then to replicate, and ultimately to innovate. This ongoing transmission of knowledge enables SCOR to develop a distinctive approach, combining rigor, creativity and long-term vision in the service of risk mastery.

This shared commitment underpins SCOR’s role as a global reinsurer. By turning risk into resilience and sustainable value, our collective of experts acts with responsibility and purpose. Together, we help protect the future, and shape it, for our clients, for society and for generations to come.

Underwriter

Solid Base Pay, Benefits Need a Boost
Pros: The base salary for an Underwriter in the reinsurance industry here is pretty solid. It's competitive with other firms in the New York City financial district. Also, the 401k match is decent and vests quickly.
Cons: Annual bonuses aren't always clear or generous, especially if company targets aren't hit. Healthcare premiums for family plans are really high, eating into your take-home pay. PTO isn't as robust as some competitors in the insurance sector either.
Advice to Management: Revisit the bonus structure for more transparency and improve family healthcare options. Stronger PTO could really boost morale and make us more competitive.

Hybrid Model is Decent, Still Room to Grow
Pros: As a Junior Actuary, I appreciated the hybrid model offered. We typically had to be in the New York City office three days a week, which felt like a solid compromise. It's nice to have some flexibility for personal appointments and less commuting time on certain days.
Cons: Sometimes the 'flexible' days aren't truly flexible if your team schedules last-minute in-person meetings. There's not much room to adjust your in-office days if something comes up, which can be tough. I wish the core hours for remote work were a bit clearer.
Advice to Management: Make the hybrid policy more truly flexible. Empower teams to adjust their in-office days when personal situations arise, especially for roles like actuarial analysis where focus is key.

Actuarial Analyst

Solid, Stable Reinsurance Job for Actuaries
Pros: Job security here is quite good. As an Actuarial Analyst in the London office, I always had a steady workload, even when the wider reinsurance market got shaky. It's a big, global corporate insurer, so it feels very stable.
Cons: Sometimes the pace can be really slow, and getting new projects approved takes forever. There's not much room for quick innovation compared to smaller firms, which can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Try to speed up decision-making processes and empower teams more for innovation.
