Job security is a bit of a mixed bag
Pros: If your project is core, you're usually fine. The main product engineering teams felt pretty stable, which is good for software development roles here in Austin, TX. We had decent hybrid work options too.
Cons: But non-core projects felt like they could be cut anytime. There's been a lot of talk about tech industry layoffs, and that stress was definitely felt at Archetype. It made job security a real concern for many.
Advice to Management: Focus on clear communication about company strategy and project longevity. It would really help calm nerves about potential future tech layoffs.

Culture is Decent, But Brace for Sprint Cycles
Pros: Working as a Junior Software Engineer here was a solid start. The teams are really collaborative, especially in the San Francisco office. You learn a ton about software development if you're proactive.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough during intense sprint cycles. There's not always super clear direction from leadership, which impacts morale. It's a growing tech company, so things often feel in flux.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate big-picture strategy more clearly and consistently. That would really help the company culture feel more stable for all employees.

Growth is Slow at This Remote Tech Firm
Pros: The team is really supportive, and I liked working on interesting SaaS development projects. We had decent WFH flexibility, which was a huge plus for my work-life balance.
Cons: Career growth is pretty stagnant here as a Senior Software Engineer. There isn't a clear path for promotion, and raises are minimal year-over-year. Mentorship opportunities are rare, especially for remote employees; it feels like you hit a ceiling quickly at this mid-size tech firm.
Advice to Management: Invest in clearer career development plans and formal mentorship programs. It would really help retain talent, especially for senior technical roles and remote staff.
