Solid Stability, Limited Work Flexibility
Pros: You get pretty decent job security as an Operations Coordinator in the maritime industry. The company is a large shipping company with a solid global reputation. Benefits are okay for a corporate environment here.
Cons: Work flexibility is tough here. As an Operations Coordinator, I'm almost always mandated onsite in the Singapore office. There aren't many hybrid options for most shipping roles, which is a real downside.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more hybrid work options, especially for roles that don't strictly require constant physical presence. It really helps with employee morale and retention in today's job market.

PIL has decent benefits, tough on job security.
Pros: The benefits package is pretty solid for a corporate environment. You get good exposure to the global maritime industry, which is great for building your resume. The team I worked with as a Logistics Coordinator was generally supportive.
Cons: Job security here is a real concern, especially with recent industry shifts. There's often talk of restructuring, which makes things feel unstable. It's tough when you're always worried about your role.
Advice to Management: Management needs to be more transparent about future plans and any potential restructuring. It would really help morale if employees felt more secure in their positions.

Onsite culture for a big shipping company
Pros: You learn a ton about global logistics as an Operations Executive. The team in the Singapore office is pretty solid, and there's good job security with an established shipping company like PIL.
Cons: Work flexibility is really limited. Most shipping roles are strictly onsite; remote work or a hybrid model isn't really an option. It can be tough balancing personal life with vessel schedules.
Advice to Management: Consider more flexibility where possible, even if it's a few WFH days a month for specific functions. A little goes a long way.
