Tough but rewarding for commodity trading
Pros: You get amazing exposure to global logistics and actual deals. The team in the Geneva office is really bright, and you learn so much from everyone around you. It's a great launchpad for a career in commodity trading if you can handle the pressure.
Cons: Work-life balance is tough, honestly. As an Operations Analyst, I often worked 10-12 hour days, especially during busy periods. There's not much flexibility, and it's mostly an onsite role, making personal appointments hard to fit in.
Advice to Management: Management needs to seriously consider burnout. Flexible work options, even a hybrid work model, would go a long way for employee retention. Encourage teams to disconnect more.

Trading Life in Geneva is Demanding
Pros: The compensation for commodities trading roles is pretty solid, especially for junior staff. You learn a ton about energy markets quickly, and there's good exposure to the global trading house environment. It's an intense but educational experience.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tough, especially as a Junior Trader in the Geneva office. Expect very long hours, often 12-14 hours a day. There isn't much work flexibility or WFH options; it's mostly onsite.
Advice to Management: Try to implement better rotation or support systems for junior trading roles. The current expectation for hours isn't sustainable long-term. More work flexibility would help a lot with retention.
