Scoot is the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA). Scoot took to the skies in June 2012 and merged with Tigerair Singapore in July 2017, retaining the Scoot brand for a new chapter of growth.

Scoot was the world's first low-cost carrier to attain the highest ratings at both the APEX Health Safety Audit powered by SimpliFlying and Skytrax COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating Audit. In 2022, Scoot was awarded IATA membership for meeting global industry standards for airline operational safety.

Scoot's Work-Life Balance: It's Okay
Pros: Some teams at this startup tech company really nail work-life balance. We get flexible PTO, which is a great perk, and the San Francisco office has a decent vibe. For some roles, you can get those 40-hour weeks.
Cons: For Product Manager roles, especially around big launches in the micromobility industry, long hours are common. It's tough to maintain a consistent schedule, and you often feel "on-call". The workload can quickly become overwhelming.
Advice to Management: Try to set clearer boundaries around project deadlines to prevent burnout, especially for Product roles. Encourage teams to truly disconnect on weekends and respect personal time.

Scoot was a mixed bag, honestly.
Pros: The people on my team were great; we really clicked. We had a pretty solid hybrid work setup too, which made coming to the San Francisco office less of a grind. For entry-level Operations Associate roles, you learn a lot.
Cons: The company culture felt a bit off sometimes. Leadership often seemed disconnected, and it made things confusing. There wasn't much transparency, which is tough for an urban mobility company trying to grow.
Advice to Management: Try to be more open with employees. Consistent messaging from leadership would help a lot with the overall company culture.

Solid job security for ground operations roles
Pros: Working as Ground Operations Staff in the Singapore office, I always felt pretty secure. The airline industry here is always busy, so there's usually work for us. They're a mid-sized carrier, so not super volatile.
Cons: Layoffs can happen, especially when the global aviation sector gets unpredictable, which is a real concern sometimes. There aren't many opportunities for career growth beyond a certain point for ground staff. Sometimes shifts get cut if there are flight delays or cancellations, affecting your hours.
Advice to Management: Invest more in training and clear career paths for ground staff. It would really help with employee retention and morale.
