Culture is okay, but it's a big company
Pros: I've met some really talented people here, especially in the game development teams. There's a decent sense of camaraderie within smaller project groups. The hybrid work model is also a plus for balancing things out.

Hybrid work model is okay for game development
Pros: The hybrid work model is a decent perk, especially for a big tech company. I could often work from home a couple of days a week from the Redwood City campus. It definitely helped manage personal appointments without using PTO. This kind of flexibility is a big plus for game development roles.
Cons: Work flexibility really suffers during crunch times for AAA titles. There's pressure to be onsite more often, which negates the hybrid benefits. Some managers aren't great at promoting work-life balance, making it tough to truly leverage remote options consistently. It felt like a 'presenteeism' culture sometimes.
Advice to Management: Management needs to standardize work flexibility policies, especially during peak production. Empower team leads to genuinely support remote work for their Software Engineer teams. Less crunch culture would improve overall employee morale and retention.

As a Software Engineer in the Redwood City, CA office, I've had the chance to contribute to really popular game development. There's a strong sense of camaraderie within smaller dev teams when things are going well.
Cons: Company culture can feel a bit fragmented; sometimes it feels like different studios are completely separate. Communication from leadership isn't always clear, which can lead to confusion. It sometimes feels like individual contributions get lost in such a big corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Try to foster a more unified culture across all studios and improve transparent communication channels. Recognize individual efforts more often; it makes a big difference for morale in a large organization. Encourage more flexibility in the hybrid work model where possible.
