Customer Service Representative

Okay culture, but lots of red tape
Pros: I liked my immediate team. Everyone was pretty supportive in customer service, especially for new hires in the telecommunications industry. There are solid employee discounts on Singtel services, which is a nice perk.
Cons: The company culture here feels a bit rigid. Getting anything done or approved takes ages because of all the layers in this big corporate structure. There's not much encouragement for new ideas as a Customer Service Representative, which can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Try to empower frontline staff more. Listen to feedback from the Customer Service Representative team. Streamline internal processes to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy.

Stable role, but growth can be slow
Pros: Job security is pretty solid in the telecommunications industry, especially for corporate roles like mine. You feel secure here; there isn't constant worry about sudden layoffs, which is a major benefit working at a big company like Singtel.
Cons: While secure, growth can feel very slow for an Associate Project Manager. It's tough to move up quickly, and sometimes there's pressure to take on extra work without clear career progression.
Advice to Management: Focus more on clear career paths for mid-level employees. Help managers identify and develop high-potential talent to prevent stagnation.

Solid Job Security, Culture Needs A Boost
Pros: You get really good job security here, which is a big plus for a large corporate like Singtel. My colleagues in the Marketing team were super supportive, which made daily tasks much better. The benefits are decent too, standard for the telecommunications industry.
Cons: The company culture can feel really slow and bureaucratic. It's tough to get new ideas approved, and innovation often gets stuck in red tape. As a Marketing Executive, I felt there wasn't enough room to really drive creative campaigns, especially for digital services.
Advice to Management: Management needs to empower teams more and streamline decision-making. The company culture feels too hierarchical and it slows down progress in a fast-moving market like digital services. Foster more internal innovation.

Decent place for telecom, but growth is slow
Pros: As a Junior Software Engineer, you learn a lot about network infrastructure and mobile connectivity. There are good training modules available to understand the telecommunications industry in the Singapore office.
Cons: Career progression is pretty slow here, especially for entry-level roles. It feels like you need to wait years for a promotion or a significant pay bump; there isn't a clear path for skill development beyond the basic training.
Advice to Management: Need to create more defined career ladders for technical roles. Speed up the promotion cycles for high performers to keep talent engaged.

Stable, but career growth is slow here
Pros: Job security is pretty solid. You won't get laid off easily here. For software engineering roles, the work-life balance is actually decent, which is a big plus.
Cons: Career progression felt really slow. There aren't many clear paths to move up, especially for IT roles in the Singapore office. It's hard to get exposure to new technologies in the telecommunications industry.
Advice to Management: Please create clearer and faster career progression paths for technical staff. Invest in upskilling and exposure to modern tech for engineering teams. It would help retain talent.

Singtel is stable, but slow-paced
Pros: Job security here is really solid. As an Associate Marketing Manager in the Singapore office, I always felt secure. It's a big player in the telecommunications industry, so you don't really worry about layoffs.
Cons: However, that stability often means career growth is super slow. You can feel stuck in your role for a long time. It's a very large corporate environment, so new ideas don't get adopted quickly.
Advice to Management: Try to create more visible and faster career paths for employees. It would make a huge difference in keeping people engaged and motivated within the corporate environment.

Growth Can Be Slow for Engineers Here
Pros: You get solid exposure to core telecommunications infrastructure in the Singapore office. It's a stable job in a big corporate environment, good if you like sticking with one company for a while, especially for network engineer roles.
Cons: Career progression for technical roles can feel pretty slow here. There aren't many clear paths to advance, and getting promoted often takes a really long time. It's hard to move up if you're not in management.
Advice to Management: Management should create more defined career paths for technical specialists. It would help a lot if there was better transparency on promotion criteria and timelines.

Okay Culture for a Big Telco
Pros: It's a really stable company, which is great for job security in the telecommunications industry. There are solid learning opportunities, especially as a Software Engineer, because you get exposure to a lot of legacy and new digital services. The benefits package is also decent for a large corporate.
Cons: The company culture can feel pretty bureaucratic. Decision-making is slow, and there's not much room for true innovation if you're looking for that startup vibe. Work-life balance for my role could be better, especially with the push for more onsite work in the Singapore office.
Advice to Management: Try to streamline processes and empower teams more. Encourage a culture of innovation beyond just lip service. Maybe offer more work flexibility to retain talent.

Stable Telco Role, Growth Can Be Slow
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the telecommunications industry, you get decent job security here. It's a big corporate, so the company feels stable and less prone to huge layoffs. Working at the Singapore office gives a sense of reliability.
Cons: However, that stability can mean slower career growth. You're not seeing rapid advancements like at some agile tech firms. The work can also feel a bit legacy, especially in backend systems, and innovation isn't always top priority.
Advice to Management: Focus more on fostering innovation and providing clearer paths for career progression for technical roles. Balance the stability with opportunities for new tech adoption.

Leadership is hit or miss, honestly.
Pros: As an Associate Product Manager, I've learned a ton about the telecom industry here. Some direct managers are really great, offering solid guidance for new projects. The initial onboarding in the Singapore office was well-structured too.
Cons: Upper leadership feels pretty out of touch with ground-level work. It's tough to get clear direction, and decision-making for new digital services takes ages in this large corporate environment. Career progression for mid-level roles can feel unclear.
Advice to Management: Try to bridge the gap between upper management and the teams doing the actual work. More transparent paths for career growth would help a lot for us in the Singapore office.
