As a Field Service Engineer, I generally worked around 45 hours a week, which is okay for the medical device industry. Weekends are usually free.
Cons: Travel can definitely impact your work-life balance. Sometimes you're on call or traveling out of state for critical issues, which means long days. There's an expectation to be available, even if you're not directly working, especially for urgent repairs. It can be tough to completely disconnect.
