Hybrid work is okay, but needs refinement.
Pros: They do offer some decent hybrid work options, which is nice for a large corporate bank like NatWest. As a Customer Service Advisor, I appreciated the chance to work from home a couple of days a week. It definitely helped with my commute into the London office.
Cons: But the "flexible hours" aren't always that flexible in practice, especially for front-line banking roles. You still have pretty strict shift patterns, which can be tough. Sometimes the WFH setup had tech glitches too, making things frustrating.
Advice to Management: Try to give more actual autonomy over schedules, even for customer-facing roles. Improve the WFH tech support; it's essential for flexible arrangements to actually work.

Decent Hybrid Model, But Inconsistent
Pros: For a big corporate bank in financial services, their hybrid model is actually pretty decent. Most Software Engineers get to work remotely from Manchester a few days a week. This WFH option helps a lot with my commute and daily life.
Cons: The biggest issue is that true flexibility depends heavily on your manager. Some teams demand more in-office days than others, which feels inconsistent. It’s not a truly remote-first environment for most, there's still a push for office presence.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize flexibility across the board. Don't let it depend so much on individual team leads in the banking industry. Empower people to choose what works best.

Hybrid Model is Decent, But Needs Work
Pros: I've been a Senior Business Analyst here for a while, and the hybrid model does offer some flexibility for many roles. It's nice to split time between home and the Edinburgh office, which helps with my commute. For banking sector jobs, it's pretty standard now.
Cons: While the hybrid setup is okay, it's not truly flexible for everyone. Some teams are pushed more towards in-office time, making a 50/50 split tough. True remote work isn't really an option unless you have a very specific role.
Advice to Management: Management should seriously look into offering more genuinely flexible work arrangements, including remote roles for positions that don't need daily office presence. It would really help with retention and overall employee satisfaction.

Okay Flexibility for Banking Jobs Here
Pros: I've found the hybrid work model for my Risk Analyst role pretty solid. Being able to WFH a couple days a week helps a lot, especially in the Edinburgh office. It's not fully remote, but it's decent for a big corporate bank.
Cons: Still, there's pressure to be onsite more during busy periods, which can make consistent flexibility tough. It feels like some teams have better work arrangements than others, which is a bit frustrating. The core banking industry often means fixed hours too.
Advice to Management: Work on standardizing WFH policies so it's fair for everyone across different divisions.

Hybrid model works, but some old habits remain
Pros: The official hybrid working policy is a big plus; I could usually WFH 2-3 days a week. This setup is pretty solid for a big corporate bank in the financial services industry. It really helped manage my personal commitments as a Financial Analyst.
Cons: Flexibility isn't always consistent. Some managers in the London office are still a bit old school and push for more in-office days than needed. It feels like there's less trust in how we manage our time remotely for certain banking roles.
Advice to Management: Really push for consistent application of flexible working policies across all teams. Trust employees more to get their work done, regardless of location. It would help retain talent in this competitive banking industry.

Hybrid Work is Okay, Could Be Better
Pros: They've got a decent hybrid model, usually 2-3 days in the London office for my engineering team. It's a big corporate bank, so there's solid job security you don't always find. The evolving tech stack in the banking sector can be interesting for a Software Engineer.
Cons: Sometimes the WFH days feel less productive because of too many online meetings. Work-life balance can suffer when flexible hours aren't truly encouraged, even with hybrid work. There's a lot of bureaucracy that can slow down innovation for engineering roles.
Advice to Management: Really look into making hybrid work more effective. Reduce unnecessary meetings on WFH days and empower teams more to manage their schedules.

Hybrid Model is Okay for Tech Roles
Pros: As a Software Engineer here, the hybrid model for tech roles is pretty decent. I can WFH a couple days, which helps a ton with my commute to the Edinburgh office. There's also some flexibility for adjusting start and end times if you need.
Cons: It's definitely not fully remote; you still have to be in the corporate building a few times a week. Some managers push for more in-office days than strictly required. This can make work-life balance tougher sometimes in the financial services industry.
Advice to Management: Really listen to employees about WFH options and hybrid models. Don't force people into the office just for the sake of it, especially for software engineering teams. Trust us to get the job done.

Decent Hybrid Options for Tech Roles
Pros: NatWest Group offers a solid hybrid model, which is good for us Software Engineers. I can mostly work remote from my home in Edinburgh a few days a week. It helps a lot with balancing my personal life.
Cons: Sometimes the 'corporate' side of this large bank shows. My team has decent flexibility, but I hear other teams push for more onsite time. It's not fully remote work, and that can be a pain.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize the hybrid model across all departments. Some managers are great, but others aren't as understanding. Clearer guidelines for work-life balance would help.

Decent hybrid model for a big bank
Pros: I appreciated the hybrid model, it's 2-3 days in the London office, which isn't bad for financial services. Having those WFH days really helps with personal appointments and general life management. Teams are usually understanding if you need to adjust your start or end times.
Cons: True remote options aren't really available for most Financial Analyst roles; it's almost always the hybrid setup. Sometimes the 'flexible' hours feel pretty rigid around core banking hours, which can be tough. It's not the most cutting-edge work arrangement.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more fully remote options for specific financial services roles. This could really help with attracting top talent and boosting employee retention in the competitive banking industry.
