Working within the Technical Advisory group, your role as a wind engineer will include engaging with clients and solving challenges related to the development, design, construction, operation, and analysis of renewable energy projects.

As a member of the Technical Advisory team you will be delivering high-value technical diligence support and offer solutions for mitigating technical and commercial challenges encountered by our clients. Technical Advisory provides comprehensive energy industry advisory services supporting strategic investments, portfolio management, operational planning, market developments, policy analyses, regulatory support, and customer engagement. We work collaboratively across several divisions within ICF, including our Power and Gas Market team, Environment and Planning team, and Transportation and Sustainability team. Consultants at ICF integrate their industry experience with advanced consulting and analytical skills. As a Solar Performance Engineer, you will utilize your experience to provide Independent Engineering and Owner’s Engineering advisory services.
Description
ICF is seeking a motivated experienced Senior Solar Performance Engineer with experience in solar photovoltaic and battery storage system performance modeling. As a Senior Solar Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for leading our generation modeling team and contributing to the work of our growing team in the field of Independent Engineering and Owners Advisory, with a focus on solar photovoltaic developments. We seek candidates who will help us grow ICF’s private sector, Independent Engineering business segment by building on our established team.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute as team member in execution of assignments (report writing, data and industry research, analysis, modelling, etc.).
Preparation and/or review of reports used for project financing purposes.
Perform ongoing research of solar technologies, generation modeling practices and the state of the industry.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Physics or other applicable discipline AND 5+ years’ experience in the energy sector, specifically, PV solar technology.
1+ years' experience of strong technical knowledge of solar resource and performance modeling, including experience with tools such as PVsyst, System Advisor Model or other resource related software tools.
1+ years' experience and/or knowledge of due diligence and risk assessment process.
1+ years' experience of understanding of project contracts including power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, supply contracts, balance of plant construction contracts, and operations and maintenance contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years’ experience in the energy sector, specifically, PV solar technology.
Experience with computer programming such as Python, Matlab, etc.
Engineer in Training (EIT) designation desirable
Master's degree preferred.
Strong project management skills
Experience in proposal writing with an emphasis on business development.
Experience in technical research and writing industry based technical papers (e.g., white papers).

Ability to work with and understand technical concepts while also being able to communicate them to varied audiences.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:
$82,673.00 - $140,544.00
