An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Innovation team at UHCW, to help drive the innovation agenda forward. The Innovation team enable the development and implementation of innovative solutions for the benefit of our patients and communities. This role provides the opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation and change, to have a positive impact upon patient care, staff wellbeing and citizen wellbeing across Coventry and Warwickshire.
We are looking for highly personable individuals with an open, creative and enquiring mind to embrace the art of the possible. Excellent organisation and a sense of curiosity are key to this role. Whilst knowledge of healthcare is advantageous, we are also interested to hear from people who can bring a fresh perspective.
There are two roles available, and each will be working closely with the Innovation Lead, and the rest of the Innovation team, and the post holder will have responsibility for managing discreet projects.

The areas of focus for these roles are: supporting the processes for managing the identification, development, implementation and commercialisation of innovative ideas from staff across the Trust, facilitating the identification and scoping of challenges to be solved innovatively, and supporting evaluations of innovative solutions. All three areas of focus will involve facilitating conversations with a wide range of stakeholders to surface and understand contexts, challenges, constraints and needs in regards to new technology, products or processes.
As well as facilitating brainstorming and design sessions to generate and refine ideas. This will involve working closely with all staff groups across the Trust, and partner organisations, as well as continuing to build collaborations with academia, the Health Innovation Network, and industry.
UHCW is proud of the UHCW Innovation Hub - a space open to all staff and partners which allows collaboration and creativity to thrive. This role will support the day to day running and development of this space, to ensure it is used to its full potential. This will also involve contributing to the delivery of innovation masterclasses, and supporting the assessment and implementation of suitable innovative ideas from elsewhere in the local innovation ecosystem.

• Act as first point of contact for innovation queries and the day to day co-ordination of innovation projects across the Trust, including supporting the activities related to the delivery of the Trust innovation strategy.
• Assess ideas disclosed to the Trust by following existing
innovation pipeline processes which the post-holder will be expected to continually develop and improve.
• Develop and use specialist knowledge and experience around innovation
management, design theory and commercialisation to progress projects from a range of clinical and non-clinical areas appropriately and choose how best to progress each project by analysing various options.
• Liaise with clinical colleagues around the suitability of ideas and progression into a commercialised product or implemented change.
• Liaise with suppliers to understand their ability to support product development, or to fully understand their solution.
• Create bespoke project plans for each project, play a key role in the day to day coordination of activities relating to these projects. This could involve daily communication across the project partners and the supervision of project activities to ensure documentation is generated, collated and filed, and report against progress.
• Follow organisation policy and governance processes for each project, seeking advice from the Innovation Lead where needed.
• Undertake research and evaluation related to the development of new
technologies, which includes desk research on existing products/services and the generation of new data within focus groups and via questionnaires.
• Support to raise the profile of the Innovation Team both within and outside the Trust.
• Represent the Trust externally at local, regional and national events including presentations.
• Maintenance of the innovation database, to include, IP and project tracking, and the development, monitoring and reporting of performance against metrics.
• Lead on the continual improvement of the processes involved in innovation pipelines.
• Provide ad hoc support where necessary to ensure the smooth progression and/or delivery of innovation projects.
• Development of strong relationships with external partner organisations e.g. MidTECH, to ensure seamless project management of Trust IP/innovation activity.
• Work collaboratively with all Trust departments and directorates and external bodies to ensure effective delivery of innovation projects across UHCW.
• Creation and delivery of robust project management processes to enable day to day management of innovation projects across the Trust.
• Manage numerous work streams at any one time, making decisions on changes to plans and timelines in accordance with changing priorities. Ensure processes are in place to enable detailed analysis of team
capacity/workload and the associated project resourcing. This involves the post holder undertaking complex data analysis and related action planning.
• Informally share technical knowledge on regular basis in all team working.
• Provide day to day advice and support to staff re innovation development and project management aspects. This requires the post holder to be skilled in communicating technical knowledge to non-experts at all levels of the organisation and in partner organisations
• Support the delivery of innovation workshops, including activities with end users i.e. staff, patients and the community. This is likely to involve occasional (up to monthly) interaction with patient/community groups of all ages (children to elderly) with acute illness, chronic conditions and mental health issues. The post holder will be expected to interact with staff on a regular basis and patients and their families on an occasional basis within clinical/ward environments.
