We are looking for researchers who have a passion for power and energy systems and advancing the growth of sustainable energy. We are looking for researchers who have a passion for power and energy systems and advancing the growth of sustainable energy. They will develop models and simulations of power and energy systems, analyse their resiliency and efficiency, and optimise their planning, operations, and deployment particularly to address problems relating to the renewable energy transition.

Successful candidates will work together with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop innovative solutions to support decisions around power system planning, energy economics, electricity markets and policy. The project will also involve collaborations with external organisations such as government planners and industry practitioners in order to move research and technical capabilities closer into real-world policy and planning practices.

Key requirements

• Ph.D in Electrical Engineering or Operations Research, or other related fields
• Proficient in programming in Python, and/or Java/C++
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work individually as well as in a team in a fast-paced dynamic research environment

Preferred requirements and experience

• Candidate demonstrating a good understanding of the power systems economics, including distribution and transmission operator decision-making processes in different regulatory environments would be highly preferred.
• Experience in power system analysis and optimisation, including and not limited to balanced and unbalanced power flow, OPF, economic dispatch, unit commitment.
• Experience in usage of optimization solvers - CPLEX, GUROBI, GLPK, etc.
• Experience in simulation with power systems modelling tools (PSS/E, PLEXOS, OpenDSS, GridLabD, PowerFactory).
• Experience in analysis tools or integrated assessment platforms or macro energy systems modelling tools (MARKAL/TIMES, OSeMOSYS, SESAME, etc).

This candidate will work closely with IME’s advanced packing team and contribute to the exploration, optimization and development of multicore & multi-chip system using IME’s heterogeneous integration platform.

Job Description:

· Digital IC Design and system-level exploration:

o Lead and contribute to the design and development of digital integrated circuits, ensuring they meet performance and functionality requirements.

o <!-Emphasize a system-level perspective in the design process, considering overall system architecture and functionality.

o Apply a deep understanding of cryogenic temperature effects on digital ICs and implement design strategies for optimal performance in low-temperature environments.

o Incorporate Edge AI principles into digital IC designs, enabling efficient and intelligent processing at the edge of the network.

o RTL implementation for custom circuit design using Verilog/SystemVerilog

Requirements: Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. The candidate should have prior experiences in IC tape-out of digital/mixed signal SoC and system level modelling and optimization using industry standard tools from leading EDA vendors such as Cadence, Synopsis and Matlab.
