Duties:

The Assistant General Counsel for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law assists the GLO Associate General Counsel and Deputy Associate General Counsel in managing the day-to-day operations of the practice group’s legal counseling function and other legal services for program client offices.

Other responsibilities include:

• Serving as an expert on a broad range of legal issues such as: intellectual property law issues (e.g., matters arising under the Patent Act, the Copyright Act, the Lanham (federal trademark) Act, and the Federal Technology Transfer Act); eDiscovery issues (including providing legal counsel on litigation holds and the nexus between law and technology); matters concerning third-party testimony under the Agency’s Touhy regulations; other IT, IP and information law issues, as assigned;
• Managing the work of staff attorneys on these matters;
• Providing well-reasoned legal advice to the GLO Associate General Counsel and Deputy Associate General Counsel, the General Counsel, Assistant Administrators, and other senior officials in connection with all aspects of intellectual property law, including the above-noted intellectual property law statutes, as well as on social media, third-party requests for testimony, and eDiscovery related matters;
• Assigning work to the practice group and any attorneys performing interdivisional assignments with IPIT;
• Monitoring assigned work and ensuring that issues and matters are appropriately prioritized;
