We are looking for an Event Crew and General Maintenance staff member to fill a temporary role on our team. Reporting to the Director of Facilities Support Services, the staff member will complete work for the Event Services and the Operations Departments.
The purpose of the Event Services Department is to support planners in producing effective, safe event experiences for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Facilities Operations is responsible for maintaining the academic buildings and grounds. We are prompt, efficient, and professional in appearance and duties. We "tailor make" our services and are immediately responsive to our diverse clientele.

This recruitment will be used to fill one temporary full-time position within the Facilities Services department at Lewis & Clark College.
The purpose of this position is to effectively perform routine event set up, production, and teardown duties involving light to heavy physical effort, and provide general maintenance services as assigned under Facilities Services management.
Working in a fast-paced environment, the Event Crew and General Maintenance employee will have a high level of interaction with facility reservationists, event planning staff, and both Lewis & Clark and hired service providers working to produce events. The employee will also interact with Lewis & Clark students, faculty, staff, visitors, Facilities Services managers, and staff represented by Teamster Local Union No. 305.
The Event Crew and General Maintenance employee works 37.5 hours per week, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Opportunity to work an adjusted start time or overtime hours may be offered based on venue schedule needs.

Within the Facilities Client Services area, the Event Crew and General Maintenance employee will be assigned to the following core duties.
Event Set-up and Production Services
Production consulting
Large venue conversions
Room layout with chair and table sets
Day-of production assistance
Temporary electrical set-up
Potable water hook-up and shut-off
Rental equipment drop-off and pick-up, including labor
Event trash and recycling cleanup for large-scale events serving food
Event equipment tear-down
Wayfinding event signage setup and clean-up
Facilities Logistics and Warehouse Management
Responsible for supporting campus operation functions, including: delivering moving boxes; transporting large packages and shipped palettes of materials; picking up heavy items; moving, setting, and removal of appliances and furniture.
Responsible for maintaining Facilities inventory of event furniture and décor pieces keeping accurate counts of the inventory (e.g., tables, chairs, lecterns, staging, drapery), and alerting supervisor if items are missing or need repair.
Responsible for working with rental companies on job sites when deliveries and pickups take place.
Building and Grounds Maintenance
Complete general maintenance and repair tasks assigned through AkitaBox work order management system including, but not limited to the following specific areas:
Bed de-lofting in residence halls
Power washing
Sheetrock and taping, wall coverings, windows and window frames, window coverings, ceiling tile, floor tile and grout, minor carpet repairs, wall fans, minor door adjustments, and roof leaks.
Performs general maintenance tasks and assists all crafts in performance of duties.
Safely operates all hand and power tools necessary to complete assigned tasks.
Maintains tools and equipment so they remain in safe operating condition.
Maintains accurate records of materials, labor and equipment costs on assigned tasks.
Keeps accurate inventory of all parts and supplies used for general maintenance.
Grounds leaf and snow removal.
Ensure work has been completed by deadlines.
Customer Service
Maintain positive customer service relationships with all clients and Facilities Services colleagues.
Promptly communicate and address requests from event coordinators.
Cultivate a culture of excellent customer service within the staff group and model outstanding customer service and communication skills.
Take initiative to solve problems, improve processes, and serve as a resource for Facilities Services staff and clients.
Clerical
Safety and Security
Learns and follows the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and offers event staff and guests guidance how to use the SRP in event of an emergency.
Address, report, and document any injuries, or incidents. Report any inappropriate event attendee behavior to supervisor, or Campus Safety.
Ensure furniture configurations meet fire code safety requirements.
Safely operates all hand and power tools necessary to complete assigned tasks.
Assist with Law enforcement agencies when necessary and within Lewis & Clark emergency response procedures.
Adhere to quiet hours in residential buildings to ensure residents are not disturbed when conducting event set-ups, tear-downs, or performing maintenance tasks.
Maintain the confidentiality of records as stipulated by FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).
Performs other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you must bring

Pursuant to L&C emergency response plans, this position is required to maintain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (if cognitively and physically able to do so) within 60 days of employment or when training becomes available by the department. Training is provided at department expense. Duty to act ends at summoning professional assistance.
Must be proficient using computers and software including: email, calendar, Google doc and spreadsheet applications.
Must maintain good conduct standing with both Lewis & Clark and the Office of Conferences and Events.
May need to work in and have access to guest rooms and residential community areas while occupied by adults and minors (youth under 18 years old); therefore, this position requires a criminal history check.
