The role will be responsible for supporting end-to-end project accounting life cycle activities for assigned accounts and projects. The role will be involved with stakeholder coordination to execute processes that will drive the completion of assigned projects.

Responsibilities: 

• Perform moderately complex tasks that support multiple and varied projects in compliance with the contract, service level agreement, define methodologies, and procedures
• May need to provide guidance to junior members of the team
• Reviews project financials for accurate revenue recognition
• Perform in-depth project analysis and provide recommendations based on findings
• Provide analysis, resolutions, and recommendations for moderately complex process improvements and technical issues through existing technical procedures and methodologies
• Support the Team Lead/Manager in handling escalations and managing disputes related to project financials
• Maintains and prepares SOP/DTP of current processes and the incorporate documentation updates
• Participate in audit-related activities and prepare audit responses
• May support junior members of the team in addressing routine issues within the assigned processes
• Propose alternatives in identified issues and assist in investigating and in resolving common and unusual issues
• Contribute specialized expertise to different assigned projects and may provide key updates to Team Lead and Manager

Description

• Assist the Assistant Finance Manager in areas of project function and accounting functions.

Responsibilities

• Verify and closely follow-up on project progress not limited to billings, cost committed and incurred against budget, ensuring its aligned with actual progress work done/completed (POC)
• Ensure timely submission and data hygiene of Project Status of Work (SOW) submitted
• Identify and highlight any potential risk of cost overruns to management
• Prepare consolidated monthly financial Project progress reporting to management
• Prepare various closing-related reports and ensure schedules are submitted in a timely manner
• Release Project Billings/invoice in SAP and monitor/track for the receivables/ incoming funds.
• To review the unbilled receivables to ensure to project to bill up to the work done at all times.
• Coordinate with respective Project Managers on the rolling forecast and forecast billings.
• Coordinate with respective departments on the Notice of Closure (NOC) for inactive/closed projects
• Coordinate the necessary departments on the NOA and budget release
• Assess the project cashflows and highlight areas of concern
• Oversee the monthly closing activities for 1-2 business units
• Liaise with external and internal auditors on all audit related matters
• Other ad hoc assignments

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Finance/Accounting or Professional Accounting Qualification
• At least 5 years relevant working experience in the same capacity.
• Proficient in SAP will be an added advantage.
• Meticulous and keen eye for details; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Committed, confident personality with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and work within required deadline.
• Working experience in construction or Oil and Gas environment will be an added advantage.
• Willing to work in Tuas area (Transport provided at Boon Lay, Jurong East, CCK and Serangoon.

Role Purpose

Works under the supervision of the Project Accountant Lead on daily tasks to validate project cost expenditure, by timely reviewing and verifying third party invoices, expense claims, and allocating cost expenditure according to project / corporate cost structure and budget.

Required to handle heavy invoice verification workload with meticulous attention to details to ensure accurate cost expenditure and timely payment, working closely with project cost controllers and other departments (finance, procurement, contracts etc.)

Key Accountabilities

Purchase Order & Sub-Contract agreements and/or corporate rules, and supporting documents provided

- Be the focal point with Finance Dept and other functions related to project invoices, make clarifications on

missing supporting documents, unclear/unjustified contractual provisions or claims and resolve for invoice

processing

- maintain full and complete records of invoices and cost charged to project

• Cost Allocation: Allocate cost expenditure according to WBS Code / Cost Centre to ensure correct WBS Code / Cost Centre assigned for each invoice and breakdown thereof
• Cashflow management: Update and maintain the project cashflow tracking/forecast sheet to ensure positive cashflow.
• Cost Analysis: Assist Cost Controller in cost analysis/reconciliation to ensure appropriate / valid cost are charged to correct budget in line with plan / phases; for example manpower analysis by ensuring project timesheet submission is in line with project budget and correct WBS code, approval by correct approver, and required documentation is in place (project mobilization/ demobilization forms), and alignment with Manpower Plan system
