Pros: The pay and benefits package is pretty good, especially for the maritime industry. You get to work on interesting LPG shipping projects and learn a lot about global tanker operations.
Cons: Work-life balance is a real challenge, especially as a Marine Superintendent in the Houston, Texas office. It's common to be on call after hours and I've often worked well over 50 hours a week. Hard to truly disconnect, even during weekends.
Advice to Management: Find ways to better staff the operations department to reduce the workload on individual Marine Superintendents. It would help prevent burnout and improve retention.
