TOPIC Embedded Systems is a system developer with its office in Best. We develop embedded systems essential to many products manufactured by reputable high tech companies worldwide. These may include low level embedded software, but also application software, user interfaces, web or mobile applications or FPGAs. With our knowledge and expertise we carry out consultancy assignments, projects on site and at TOPIC’s own offices and we develop our own embedded products such as Miami, Florida and Dyplo. We often use these as part of the solution that we offer to our clients.

Pros: TOPIC offers a fantastic variety of projects in the embedded systems space, working with different clients and technologies. This really helps you build a diverse skillset. The company supports professional development, and there are opportunities to attend training and conferences. Flexible working hours and the ability to work from home have been very beneficial for my personal life.
Cons: While project-based work is exciting, the level of autonomy can depend heavily on the client's project management style. Sometimes, communication flows can be a bit slow between different departments or with specific client teams. It would be great to see more standardized internal processes for project handoffs.
Advice to Management: Continue investing in employee development and foster stronger internal communication channels to ensure consistent project experiences and knowledge sharing across teams.

Pros: As an Embedded Software Engineer, I found job security here pretty solid for a tech firm. There's always demand for good firmware development and hardware integration skills, especially on long-term embedded systems projects.
Cons: It's not totally rock-solid, though. We're project-based, so sometimes there's a bit of concern if a big contract ends without another lined up. The semiconductor industry can be tough sometimes, which impacts us.
Advice to Management: Keep communication clear on upcoming projects and potential pipeline shifts for us embedded developers. Transparency helps manage anxiety during slower periods.
