Okay for a Start, Limited Upward Movement
Pros: The guest services team is usually solid, and I learned a lot about hotel operations. You get good exposure to different aspects of running a boutique hotel.
Cons: Career growth at Aloft for entry-level roles like mine felt super slow. There aren't many clear paths to move up unless you're willing to wait years or switch departments entirely. It's hard to see internal promotions.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer career progression plans for associates. It'd really help with retention if there were more opportunities for internal promotion in hotel operations.

Decent place, but security can vary
Pros: As a Front Desk Associate, I felt pretty secure once I was past the probation period. The hospitality industry generally has consistent needs, so there's always work, especially for hotel staff. Being a Marriott brand helps with stability in the corporate hotel world.
Cons: Job security isn't guaranteed if the hotel isn't busy. My hours were sometimes reduced when tourism was slow in the Austin, TX market. It's tough when you're relying on full-time hours. No severance for shorter tenures, which isn't great for peace of mind.
Advice to Management: Try to maintain consistent hours for your loyal hotel staff, even during slower periods. It really helps with morale and financial stability for employees in the hospitality industry.
