Decent Pay and Benefits for Retail
Pros: As a Sales Associate, the base hourly pay is competitive for the retail industry. The health insurance plans are solid, better than what I've seen at other places in the paint and coatings industry. You also get a decent 401k match, which is a big plus.
Cons: However, the annual raises aren't huge, and it's tough to get significant bumps without moving into management roles. PTO accrual isn't great, especially for an onsite retail role, so don't expect a ton of vacation time early on. The bonus structure isn't very clear either.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into better annual raises and increasing PTO for long-term employees. It would definitely help with retention and overall morale for those in retail roles.

Sales Rep life is busy but rewarding
Pros: As a Sales Representative, you get a good amount of autonomy. You can set your own schedule a bit, which is nice for personal appointments. It's a solid job if you like being independent in the paint and coatings industry.
Cons: Work-life balance is tough, especially in high-demand seasons. Expect 50-60 hour weeks sometimes, and you're always on call for retail paint stores. It really impacts your weekends and family time, working onsite a lot.
Advice to Management: Management needs to recognize the high demands on Sales Representatives. Consider better staffing or more realistic targets to help us maintain some work-life balance.

Assistant Store Manager

Solid Benefits, But Pay Isn't Great
Pros: The health benefits package is actually pretty solid, especially for a big company. The 401k match is decent too, which is a big plus. You get standard corporate benefits working in retail sales.
Cons: Pay in the paint industry just isn't what it should be. For Assistant Store Manager roles, it's especially noticeable. It's tough to make a really good living without tons of overtime. Entry-level salaries are particularly low.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the base salaries for retail management, especially for Assistant Store Managers. It's hard to attract and retain talent when pay isn't competitive with the demanding workload.
