Pros: As a Civil Engineer here, the team is pretty solid, and you get to work on some interesting construction projects. There's a decent annual bonus if the project hits targets, which is nice for a mid-sized firm like us. It's not a huge payout, but it's something to look forward to.
Cons: The base salary for engineering roles, especially here in the Kuala Lumpur office, just isn't competitive with the market. Benefits are pretty basic too; I wish there was more comprehensive health insurance. It's tough to justify the long hours on site work when the compensation isn't quite there.
Advice to Management: Seriously re-evaluate the compensation packages for technical roles, especially for experienced Civil Engineers. Bringing salaries up to market rate and offering better benefits like a stronger health plan would really help with retention in the Kuala Lumpur office.
