Pros: FUNDES is doing important work supporting small and medium-sized enterprises throughout Latin America, which is incredibly fulfilling. The team I worked with was always collaborative and passionate about our mission. It's a great environment to learn about the challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurs in developing economies, and you get to see the direct impact of your efforts.
Cons: The primary concern here revolves around job security. Given that many initiatives and projects are funded by grants and specific development aid programs, there can be a feeling of uncertainty regarding long-term roles or project continuity. This sometimes leads to pressure during proposal writing phases or when funding is being reviewed.
Advice to Management: Focus on diversifying funding sources or creating more long-term core funding mechanisms to enhance employee job security and reduce reliance on short-term project cycles. Clearer communication about future project pipelines could also alleviate some anxiety.
