In 2024, we achieved a major milestone with the successful maiden flight of our SR75 suborbital rocket, proving the effectiveness of our hybrid propulsion technology. This achievement underscores the potential of hybrid propulsion in space and marks the beginning of a new era in affordable, sustainable space access.
What do we do: ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ณ๐ฑ: our single-stage suborbital rocket delivering up to 300 kg into microgravity ๐ฆ๐๐ญ: our orbital small satellite launcher, launch planned for 2027 ๐๐๐ ๐ผ๐๐ฒ: our orbital transfer vehicle for in-space mobility and last-mile delivery
Headquartered in southern Germany, we began in 2018 as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR). With over 15 years of propulsion R&D and more than 100 successful tests behind us, weโre transforming hybrid propulsion into a scalable, real-world solution.
With safety, sustainability, and affordability at the heart of everything we do, we are on a mission to

reviews and is evolving.
Pros: I've really enjoyed diving into actual engineering tasks and contributing to projects. The mentorship from senior engineers is excellent, always explaining complex concepts, vital for an Unsolicited Intern. Exposure to cutting-edge technology in the space industry, like rocket propulsion and vehicle development, is invaluable for career growth. The team spirit is fantastic; everyone's excited about the mission in this collaborative aerospace startup environment.
Cons: As an aerospace startup, the pay and benefits for an Unsolicited Intern / Working student are definitely on the more modest side, which is understandable given the growth phase. Sometimes, due to the fast-paced nature of the work, clear communication on project priorities can be a bit challenging, leading to occasional re-work. Better documentation for some internal processes would also be helpful for new joiners.
Advice to Management: Continue fostering the collaborative environment. Formalizing mentorship for interns would provide consistent guidance as HyImpulse scales. Reviewing student compensation will also attract and retain top talent in this competitive space industry.

Pros: The opportunity to work on cutting-edge rocket technology is unparalleled. The team is incredibly smart and driven, fostering a collaborative and innovative atmosphere. Being part of a growing company in the European space industry offers significant learning potential and the chance to make a real impact. The work is challenging and rewarding.
Cons: As with many early-stage startups, processes are still evolving, which can sometimes lead to minor inefficiencies or a need for adaptability. Communication could be more streamlined as the team scales. Some areas might benefit from more structured project management to optimize resource allocation.
Advice to Management: Continue fostering innovation and empower your teams. Consider formalizing some key processes to support scaling efficiently. Strong leadership is key as you grow.

Pros: The biggest pro was the hands-on exposure to developing innovative rocket propulsion systems. As an intern, I wasn't just doing grunt work; I genuinely contributed to projects and learned a lot about aerospace engineering from experienced professionals. The team culture is very collaborative and supportive, which is crucial in a fast-paced startup. There was also good work flexibility which helped me manage my studies alongside the role, crucial for a working student.
Cons: Sometimes the project scope for an Unsolicited Intern / Working student (m/f/d) wasn't always clearly defined initially, leading to some self-navigation, which can be tough. While the work-life balance was generally good due to flexibility, there were definite periods of high intensity and workload spikes, especially approaching critical deadlines in the space industry. Communication across different time zones and remote setups could also be a minor hurdle.
Advice to Management: Continue to refine the onboarding and project assignment process for interns and working students, ensuring clearer initial objectives. Strengthening remote team integration and cross-location communication strategies would also benefit everyone, especially when dealing with a global talent pool.
