Our department is shaping tourism in Japan. By providing unique travel packages and systems, we work on making travel in Japan a memorable experience. We have a global strategy to build Rakuten Travel, its presence, and its services within and outside of Japan. We are also on a mission to continuously improve the service quality of ever-evolving Japanese market.
This department has two teams, one in Tokyo and another in Osaka. This position will be for the growing Osaka team. This team manages the platform of browsing and booking services of rental cars, car share services, and buses that allow travelers to get to places.
This position is a challenging role and will help us lead in the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) industry. You will be in charge of developing services and applications that serve hundreds of users globally. You will use latest technology to manage the backend side of the applications.
This position will require candidate to be in Osaka, Japan.
Position Details
You will be responsible for API development and operation of the application with other team members, Product Managers, and related stakeholders within the firm.
You will develop and improve innovative services that handle large-scale traffic.
You will produce newly developed systems for the business and own the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment and maintenance.
In addition to backend tasks, you will also work on DevOps tasks and server-side work. You will be working on databases and help on any tasks assigned to you on the backend.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of development experiences with Java with Spring Boot framework. Should have designed, built out, and operate/maintain multiple web APIs from scratch
- Read documentation, design, and architecture to develop effective backend systems
- Worked on Linux servers and understand server-side operations.
- Previous experience with databases (i.e. Oracle database, RDBMS, MongoDB, Redis, SQL)
- Experience deploying using Git and using Jenkins
- Strong communication in English
- Collaborative and past experience working in a team environment
- Experienced with code review and design review
- Experience of development in Linux environment
- Familiar with maintenance and operation side of application development.
