About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our cutting-edge project focused on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets for realistic software engineering problems. This role requires a hands-on approach, leveraging your expertise in high-quality public GitHub repositories to contribute meaningfully to the development of verifiable SWE tasks. You will be responsible for automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality. This is an exceptional opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and AI research, influencing how AI models understand and interact with real code.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong background in JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency in Git, Docker, and basic software pipeline setup is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run and modify projects locally, and evaluate code quality effectively. Experience with open-source contributions or evaluations is advantageous. Additional familiarity with AI or LLM research projects will be considered a plus, along with prior experience building developer tools or automation agents.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues from GitHub repositories across trending open-source libraries to identify challenges for LLMs.
- Set up and configure development environments, including containerization with Docker and environment management.
- Evaluate unit test coverage, quality, and effectiveness within various codebases.
- Modify and execute codebases locally to test and assess LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to select repositories and issues that present meaningful challenges for AI models.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment to accelerate project progress and innovation.
