About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves engaging directly with high-quality public GitHub repositories to develop verifiable software engineering tasks based on real-world project histories. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, particularly in automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing code quality and test coverage. Your expertise will contribute to building datasets that enable LLMs to better understand and solve complex software engineering problems, ultimately advancing AI's capabilities in this domain. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of AI-assisted software development through hands-on technical work and leadership in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess at least three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of working with complex codebases and open-source projects. Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript is essential, along with familiarity with Git, Docker, and basic software pipeline setup. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand, modify, and test real-world projects locally, ensuring high-quality contributions. Experience contributing to open-source repositories or participating in LLM research projects is considered a plus. Additionally, excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or lead a team are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenges and opportunities for LLM evaluation.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and environment management, to facilitate testing and development activities.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and quality, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.
- Modify and run codebases locally to assess the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code understanding tasks.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to design and select repositories and issues that present meaningful challenges for LLMs.
- Lead or mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and ensuring project milestones are met.
