Hospice Nursing Work-Life Can Be Tricky
Pros: You get some flexibility to schedule your patient visits during the day, which is good for a hospice nurse. The team often helps each other out when someone's swamped. The benefits package is pretty solid for the hospice care industry.
Cons: On-call rotations can really mess with your personal time; it's hard to plan anything. There's a lot of charting, and it often means working late nights or on weekends. Sometimes the patient load feels too heavy, impacting work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Try to find ways to ease the on-call burden for nurses. Maybe hire more staff or implement a dedicated night team. Better managing the patient census could also improve work-life balance across the board.

Flexibility is okay, but it's a trade-off.
Pros: I've got some control over my daily schedule as a Hospice Case Manager. You can adjust patient visits if something unexpected comes up, which helps a lot. There's a decent amount of remote documentation work too, reducing my time in the office.
Cons: The 'flexibility' often means working late or being on call for hospice care needs, though. Weekends can be tough; you don't always get to pick your on-call shifts. It's not truly hybrid work for most clinical roles, as patient care is always onsite.
Advice to Management: Try to balance on-call duties more evenly across the team. More transparency on scheduling would really help for clinical roles like Hospice Case Managers. Acknowledge that real-world hospice care impacts true work-life balance.

Leadership has its moments here
Pros: The immediate team and clinical supervisors are genuinely supportive for us hospice nurses. They really care about good patient care and often go above and beyond. We also get decent health benefits.
Cons: Upper management changes frequently, which creates instability. There's not much clear direction from leadership on long-term strategy. It feels like they don't always understand field-based challenges.
Advice to Management: Try to stabilize upper leadership and provide clearer communication. Field staff, especially hospice nurses, need more consistent support and understanding of daily challenges. Invest in leadership training too.
