L’IGBMC – Institut de Génétique et de Biologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire – explore les mécanismes du vivant pour faire progresser la science et transformer ses découvertes en innovations médicales et industrielles. Créé en 1994 à partir de la fusion de deux laboratoires strasbourgeois, l’institut est aujourd’hui l’un des plus grands centres européens de recherche biomédicale. En France, il s’agit de la plus grande unité de recherche, regroupant le CNRS, l’Inserm et l’Université de Strasbourg. L’institut s’articule autour de quatre grands programmes scientifiques et s’appuie sur des services de pointe, ainsi que des plateformes technologiques, conçus pour répondre aux besoins de ses chercheurs, mais également ouverts à l’ensemble de la communauté scientifique. Son objectif est de développer une recherche interdisciplinaire à l’interface de la biologie, de la biochimie, de la physique et de la médecine, tout en formant de nouvelles générations de scientifiques. L’IGBMC attire ainsi des étudiants et doctorants du monde entier, en proposant un enseignement de très haut niveau dans le domaine des sciences biomédicales.
