Pros: The best part about working at Subsets has to be the team. Everyone is generally helpful and willing to collaborate, which makes tackling complex projects much smoother. There's a genuine effort to ensure people aren't overworked, and the flexibility offered, especially with remote options, really helps in managing personal life alongside work. It's a pretty laid-back atmosphere, good for focusing on development tasks.
Cons: While collaboration is strong, sometimes the direction for career progression feels a bit unclear. There aren't always well-defined paths for advancement, and it can feel like growth opportunities are more ad-hoc than planned. Also, during crunch times on major software releases, the 'balance' can feel a bit strained, leading to longer hours than usual, though this is usually temporary.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing more structured career development frameworks and mentorship programs to help employees see clearer paths for advancement within the company. Clearly define roles and responsibilities for senior positions.
