About The Role
We are seeking a Full Stack Java Developer (m/w/d) to join our dynamic team at our Bremen location. This role is pivotal in maintaining and advancing a critical business system within the port logistics domain. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and continuous evolution of our Java-based application. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including quality assurance, product management, and other developers, you will contribute to the systematic modernization of our existing infrastructure. Your expertise will help shape the future architecture of our systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of reliability, performance, and maintainability.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant educational background such as an apprenticeship as a Fachinformatiker for application development, a degree in computer science, or an equivalent qualification. You should have extensive professional experience in Java software development, demonstrating proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex application systems. A strong willingness to deepen your understanding of the logistics and railway traffic sectors is essential. Experience in handling legacy systems, conducting system stabilization, and modernizing architectures is highly valued. Additionally, familiarity with test-driven development, writing maintainable code, and using KI-supported tools for development, testing, and documentation will set you apart. Proficiency with tools like Maven, Git, Jenkins, and GitLab is required. Knowledge of Spring Boot, React, and Docker is advantageous. Excellent communication skills in German (minimum C1 level) and good command of English are necessary to thrive in our international environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously enhance a mission-critical Java system, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Stabilize existing applications by improving reliability, maintainability, and testability.
- Gradually restructure the technical architecture towards a modular monolith, considering current technologies and future scalability.
- Work with our proprietary Java framework, open-source libraries, and implement established Jakarta standards such as JPA.
- Analyze existing system structures to identify and implement pragmatic, sustainable improvements.
- Participate actively in architecture and technology decision-making processes.
- Ensure high software quality through test-driven development, pair programming, and comprehensive code reviews.
- Collaborate closely with development, quality assurance, and product teams within an agile environment to deliver high-quality solutions.
