About The Role

We are seeking a skilled API Backend Developer (m/w/d) with expertise in Oracle and REST Services to join our dynamic team. This full-time position offers flexibility with up to 60% remote work, based in Mülheim an der Ruhr, and is not a fully remote role. As a vital member of our IT department, you will be responsible for developing robust APIs and backend services that facilitate secure and efficient data exchange within the PVS holding GmbH group. Your work will directly impact the seamless integration of healthcare billing systems, ensuring data integrity and operational stability. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant vocational qualification such as an IT specialist (Fachinformatiker/in) or an equivalent educational background. You should have proven experience in developing and operating RESTful APIs, specifically with Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS). Strong knowledge of Oracle databases and PL/SQL is essential, along with familiarity with API design using OpenAPI/Swagger and JSON interfaces. Proficiency in version control systems like Git, and understanding of branching strategies such as GitFlow or Trunk-Based Development, are required. Additionally, experience with scripting languages like Shell or Python, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, will be advantageous. Fluency in German (minimum C1 level) is mandatory for effective communication and documentation. Candidates should demonstrate a structured, self-driven approach, excellent teamwork skills, and a keen interest in developing innovative backend solutions within an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop RESTful APIs utilizing Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS), incorporating features such as pagination, filtering, sorting, and bulk operations to ensure reliable system communication.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve backend interfaces for core applications of PVS holding GmbH, leveraging ORDS-specific features like custom authentication schemas, resource templates, parameter mapping, and handler methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH).
• Create clear and comprehensive API documentation using OpenAPI (Swagger), standardizing interfaces for internal and external use.
• Translate business logic into efficient PL/SQL code, integrating database processes seamlessly into API services.
• Automate development and operational workflows through scripting in Shell or Python, and analyze API performance, stability, and security to optimize ongoing functionality.
• Participate actively in team discussions, contribute ideas, and help shape the architecture of backend systems to meet evolving business needs.
