About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer (Freelance) to join a dynamic project in Germany. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge automotive communication solutions, developing software that enhances device connectivity and real-time monitoring capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cross-platform device management libraries, Windows DLLs, and custom USB drivers, ensuring seamless communication between vehicle communication devices and software applications. The role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, driver development, and automotive communication standards such as RP-1210 and J2534. This position offers flexibility, allowing remote work or on-site collaboration near Hannover, depending on preferences and project needs.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in embedded systems, network programming, and device driver development. Essential qualifications include extensive experience in developing Windows DLLs, device recognition, and cross-platform development for Windows and Linux environments, preferably using C++ or C#. Knowledge of MQTT and security protocols such as TLS and HTTPS is crucial, as well as experience with automotive communication protocols. Candidates should have a solid understanding of embedded systems, driver development, and network security. Fluency in German at a C1 level or higher is required to facilitate effective communication within the team and with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop Windows DLLs to facilitate communication between vehicle communication devices and Windows-based applications.
• Create device discovery and management services utilizing MDNS, WLAN, USB, and LAN, including monitoring device status.
• Implement MQTT protocols to enable real-time device status updates and data transfer.
• Build platform-independent device management libraries compatible with Windows and Linux platforms.
• Design, develop, and sign custom USB drivers, including creating INF files for device recognition and installation.
• Ensure secure communication channels using protocols such as TLS, HTTPS, and self-signed certificates.
• Implement automotive communication protocols like RP-1210 and J2534 to support vehicle diagnostics and communication.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable embedded software solutions.
• Maintain code quality through testing, documentation, and adherence to best practices.
