Pros: I've really enjoyed my time at Procorp as a Network Operations Manager. The stability here is fantastic, which is important in the ever-changing IT industry. There's a strong emphasis on teamwork among the NOC engineers, and management is generally supportive. For an onsite job in Plano, TX, the work flexibility is better than I expected. We have some leeway with shift adjustments, and the team is good about covering for personal appointments when needed, which helps a lot with work-life
Cons: While work flexibility is good, it is still an onsite role, so true remote work options are nonexistent for my position, which can be a minor challenge when unexpected personal situations arise. Also, during peak times or major incidents, the workload can become pretty intense, which sometimes strains our resources and team capacity. The approval process for some larger operational changes could also be a bit more streamlined to improve efficiency within our network operations center.
Advice to Management: Consider exploring more options for occasional flexible work arrangements, even for onsite roles, to boost morale and retention, especially for managers who often handle critical off-hour incidents.
