About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Java/J2EE Developer to join our Direct Financial Services team at CIBC. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in driving our digital transformation initiatives by delivering complex, enterprise-scale mobile projects that integrate multiple back-end systems. You will be at the heart of technological innovation, supporting the development and implementation of scalable solutions on modern platforms. Your expertise will enable CIBC to enhance its digital channels, improve operational efficiencies, and deliver superior banking experiences to our clients.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on developer with a strong background in API design, microservices architecture, and modern development practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and support high-quality software solutions, mentor junior developers, and advocate for continuous improvement in processes and technology adoption. Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Java/J2EE development
- Proficiency with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks
- Experience developing Web Services, including SOAP, JSON, and RESTful APIs
- Hands-on experience with Angular for front-end development
- Strong background in Microservices architecture and API development
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices
- Familiarity with Cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Experience with containerization technologies like OpenShift or Kubernetes
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong understanding of performance tuning and operational support
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate complex technical concepts
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of APIs by analyzing business requirements and adhering to system architecture standards
- Develop, test, and implement scalable microservices and enterprise-level solutions
- Ensure best practices in coding, security, and performance optimization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions across multiple platforms
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical documentation
- Support operational activities, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and issue resolution
- Mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing
