Leadership is Okay, But Inconsistent at Times
Pros: As an Account Manager, I've seen solid support for hitting our sales targets. The resources for understanding packaging solutions and our distribution network are pretty good, which helps when you have new leadership. You can definitely learn a lot about the industry here.
Cons: Leadership can feel really inconsistent across different departments. There's often high turnover in management positions, especially in the Chicago office, which makes it tough to build long-term rapport. Sometimes it feels like micromanagement from above, stifling individual initiative.
Advice to Management: Focus on developing a more consistent leadership philosophy and reducing management turnover. Invest more in manager training to ensure everyone is on the same page regarding employee development and support. Clearer communication channels would also help bridge the gap between corporate goals and everyday operations.

Solid Job Security, Slower Career Path
Pros: As an Account Manager, I felt good about my job security. The packaging distribution industry is super stable, so there's consistent client demand. You don't often hear about big layoffs in the Chicago office, which is a relief.
Cons: However, career growth for sales roles feels really slow here. It's definitely a corporate company, so climbing the ladder takes forever. The pay raises aren't super impressive either, which can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Try to create clearer pathways for career advancement, especially for sales roles. Revisit compensation structures to stay competitive with the industry.

Okay Team, But Work Flexibility Needs Work
Pros: The team I worked with was pretty solid, and I got to learn a ton about the packaging industry. As an Account Manager, I had good exposure to different clients, which was a decent way to build my portfolio. Plus, the work hours generally stick to a 40-hour week.
Cons: Work flexibility isn't great here, especially for sales roles in the distribution sector. While some corporate teams have a hybrid model, most client-facing positions are expected to be onsite most days. It's tough when you need more WFH options or just better flexibility for personal stuff.
Advice to Management: Consider expanding real work flexibility options, like a more robust hybrid model, to more departments. It would greatly help retention, especially for seasoned Account Managers and others in client-facing roles who need to manage their own schedules effectively.
