Supportive Culture and Team in New Westminster
Pros: The best part about Make Space is definitely the team and the overall company culture. Everyone is really supportive and collaborative, which makes coming to work enjoyable. Management here in New Westminster genuinely tries to create a positive work environment, and you get to learn a lot about operations in the self-storage and logistics industry. It's a stable job with good daily variety.
Cons: During peak seasons or busy days, the workload can become quite demanding for a Customer Service & Operations Coordinator. While there's a lot of informal learning, clearer pathways for formal career growth or internal promotions could be better communicated by corporate.
Advice to Management: Keep fostering the positive team dynamics and local management support we have. Consider implementing more structured professional development plans and clearer communication regarding advancement opportunities for employees in the self-storage sector.

Decent place to work in logistics
Pros: The team environment at this Make Space location was pretty great. Everyone pitched in, and management was usually approachable. I appreciated the consistent hours, which made planning my personal life much easier. The job security felt reliable, which is a big plus in this industry. There's also a good sense of community among the staff.
Cons: While pay is standard for the industry, there isn't much room for rapid salary increases without moving into management. Some of the older equipment could use an upgrade to make tasks more efficient and less strenuous. Communication from senior leadership about company-wide changes could sometimes be clearer or more timely.
Advice to Management: Invest in some equipment upgrades for efficiency and consider more frequent, transparent communication about strategic company direction to keep everyone aligned and motivated.

Decent Flexibility for a Fast-Paced Startup
Pros: As an Operations Coordinator at Make Space, I appreciated the hybrid work model. Being able to work remote a couple days a week from New York City really helped with my commute and personal appointments. For a logistics startup, they offer solid work-from-home options that not all companies in this industry do.
Cons: While the WFH is good, the actual hours can be unpredictable, especially with last-minute on-demand storage issues. Sometimes it feels like you're still "on" even when you're supposed to be offline, which makes true flexibility tough. There's not always a clear boundary.
Advice to Management: Try to set clearer expectations for response times outside of core office hours. Empower teams to fully disconnect on their remote days without urgent requests popping up.
