Pros: I love the mission here, supporting the Waterloo tech community and fostering innovation. My colleagues are incredibly supportive and collaborative, which makes daily work a pleasure. There are constant learning opportunities, as you're exposed to so many different companies and ideas in the technology industry. The work environment is stable, and they offer good work flexibility for program roles. It feels good to contribute to something bigger.
Cons: Compensation can feel a bit low compared to what you might find in the private sector for similar tech jobs, which is a definite drawback. While there are career development opportunities, the path for promotions isn't always super clear, and it can feel a bit slow at times. Some internal approval processes can also be a bit bureaucratic, slowing down new initiatives.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer career progression frameworks and review the compensation structure to ensure competitiveness, especially for key roles. Streamlining internal approval processes would also help teams move faster.
