There's a decent level of flexibility with shifts, which is a huge plus for maintaining work-life balance. The supportive environment within my immediate team makes a big difference.
Cons: The main drawback is the remuneration, which feels a bit low for the demanding nature of the role, even with the shift penalties. Sometimes communication from upper management can feel a bit distant, and onboarding for new support workers could be more streamlined to ensure everyone has the necessary training from day one.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing compensation to better reflect the vital work support staff do. Also, improving communication channels with frontline employees would be beneficial for morale and operational efficiency.

Pros: You get superannuation and standard leave, which is solid. It's a reliable paycheck as a Disability Support Worker, which helps for stability in the disability services industry. There are also penalty rates for nights and weekends.
Cons: The base pay isn't really competitive for the demanding work. I felt that for the hours and emotional labor involved, especially in the Brisbane area, it could be better. Don't expect huge bonuses or much beyond basic benefits.
