Pros: The best part of working at WeLearn has been the genuine flexibility. As a remote Instructional Designer, I appreciate being able to set my own hours to some extent, which really helps with work-life balance. The team is collaborative, and the online learning projects are often interesting and impactful.
Cons: Sometimes the project management could be more streamlined, and getting clear direction from higher leadership on long-term strategy can be a bit hit-or-miss. This can occasionally lead to scope creep or rework. Improving internal communication pipelines would be beneficial.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing more consistent communication channels for strategic updates. This would help align teams better and improve project predictability for employees across the EEA.

Pros: As an Instructional Designer, my base pay was pretty competitive for the EdTech industry. They offer a solid 401k match, which is nice. For a remote role, it's a decent package overall.
Cons: Annual raises aren't really impressive here, so don't expect quick salary bumps. The health insurance deductibles feel a bit high, which isn't ideal. There aren't many extra perks beyond the basics for us remote folks.
Advice to Management: Focus on enhancing the health benefits. Also, look into more meaningful annual raises to keep experienced Instructional Designers engaged. It would make a big difference for retention.

Pros: Some team leads are really supportive. They genuinely want to see you grow, which is great for new developers in the Austin office. The hybrid model is also a solid perk.
Cons: Upper management often feels out of touch. Communication from the top down isn't always clear, especially on big product changes. It creates confusion for us.
Advice to Management: Work on clearer communication from senior leadership. More transparency about company direction would help everyone.

What is the interview process like at WeLearn for a remote L&D specialist role?
The interview process at WeLearn felt very structured and respectful, involving a recruiter screen, a hiring manager interview, and a panel interview. It gave me a good sense of the company culture and the collaborative environment for remote L&D specialists in the EdTech industry.
What is WeLearn's policy on remote work for software engineering roles in a company of its size?
WeLearn offers a hybrid work model for most roles, allowing for a mix of in-office and remote days. For software engineers, the flexibility can depend on team needs and project timelines, but there's generally support for remote work arrangements to maintain work-life balance.
