Requirements

Possess commercial acumen.
Working knowledge of litigation (both civil and criminal). Although Counsel will not be expected to attend court (as Advocate), he/she should have good knowledge to advise company and instruct/manage external lawyers.
Experience in handling legal compliance risk issues.

• Drafting and reviewing various agreements and legal documentation including operational agreements, commercial agreements, procurement purchases, tenancy agreements, and corporate transactions agreements;
• Provide practical legal advice for the company operations and business arrangements;

SKILLS

• Fluency in reading, writing, drafting documents and communication skills in English is essential. Fluency in other Asian languages is an advantage.
• Critical knowledge and skills, including software applications etc : High Computer proficiency: Google Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and calendar software; contract management database experience.

The Legal Counsel SMDS, Malaysia will report to the Head of Legal Malaysia (“HOL”). The successful candidate is responsible for provision of a broad suite of legal services to SMDS and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

The successful candidate will serve as a primary focal point/member of the SMDS leadership team and is expected to be a strategic business partner. This position is expected to coordinate and collaborate with other Shell Legal Malaysia colleagues, as well as integrate with other legal/functional colleagues and subject matter legal experts, and work across business lines and departments as needs and priorities may require from time to time.

• What’s the role?

• To provide and/or act as integrator in the provision of timely, professional and fit-for-purpose legal advice and support to SMDS
• Participate in external negotiations with all applicable Government agencies, NOCs, other IOCs and contractors/vendors and drafting agreements to ensure that SMDS’ legal and commercial interests are well-represented and projects are delivered to meet performance targets

AirAsia X is seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. The Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support to the company, primarily focusing on commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and general legal matters related to the airline industry.

Legal Counsel:

The Legal function at CAE is a strategic partner to the business and plays a critical role in providing sound and practical legal advice to management and stakeholders across the organization. • Be responsible for the legal aspects of the day-to-day operation of the and overall legal compliance of the Company
• Act as the first legal inhouse counsel touchpoint,liaise and create an association of trust and respect with key internal stakeholders
• Oversee the execution phase of contracts and provisions of legal instruments and corporate documents to be performed Legal Admin
• Assist Senior  Legal Counsel on all legal matters related to company business giving legal advice to internal and commercial teams and ad-hoc project
• Draft and review various agreements and legal documents,support day-to-day direction strategy and legal advice to the business on dispute resolution issues impacting the company’s operations
• Monitor and update laws and regulations relevant to the business
• Work with the local team and the regional team
• Conduct legal research and assist other counsels as delegated
• Perform any other legal or administrative tasks as assigned or directed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or above in Law or equivalent in a relevant field is preferred
• At least 3 - 5 years of experience in working as a Legal Counsel or related fields in dynamic working places Strong legal knowledge and technical fluency
• Experience in corporate and  commercial-related fields would fit perfectly
• Having good knowledge of contract law, the aviation industry, and the technology industry.
• Ability to work independently and thrive under pressure
• Flexible and speedster and fast thinker – able to solve problems on the go and adapt quickly
• Excellent in English Communication both written and verbal
• A team player, willing to multitask where additional help is required and communicate well with the team members
• High attention to detail
