An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced practitioner and leader to take on the role of Early Learning and Childcare Manager at Glaitness Nursery in Kirkwall. Glaitness Nursery is registered for 90 children aged 2-5 years and operates alongside Glaitness School. The Nursery Leadership Team is made up of an ELC Manager, Senior Early Years Practitioner and two Lead EYPs who work together to support the nursery community and drive improvement. You will lead a dedicated team who are all committed to delivering the vision of ‘Learning through play in a nurturing way’.
Since August 2022, the setting has operated from a new purpose built/refurbished building on the Glaitness School site. The setting prides itself on focusing on their children but also their families and connections to the wider community. The team have opportunities to get involved in family work, forest school sessions and community gardening as well as delivering high quality nursery provision in the setting.
The new manager will join a small team of ELC managers in Orkney, who meet together regularly for support and development. The early years service offer support and training and the service run regular development opportunities.

Pinewood School is a special school which provides children and young people who have additional learning needs an opportunity to access high quality learning and teaching. The curriculum is designed and adapted to meet the diverse needs of individual learners.
The school is based in the village of Blackburn. The school is classified as through school supporting both primary and secondary aged pupils. There are 19 classes across the school. The school is supported by a team of health professionals who regularly meet with staff, children and parents. This includes: school nursing team, Community Pediatrician, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Education Psychologist and Children and Adolescent Mental Health Team.
There is a very positive ethos across the school. Staff, parents and partners work very well together to create a community to provide the best possible care for our children. We are seeking a new school leader who will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to join the school community in creating a dynamic and inclusive environment for our most complex learners in West Lothian.
