Full Stack Engineer – Flutter / Python / Django (Hybrid – Cape Town)
We are working with a fast-growing South African tech startup that is redefining how parking works - think smart cities, IoT, license plate recognition, digital payments, and a product that is rapidly becoming a household name across the country.
They are a small, high-ownership team of strong engineers who build everything: mobile apps, web dashboards, backend systems, and hardware integrations. As they scale nationally, they need someone who can genuinely do it all - and do it well.
This is not a role for a pure backend engineer, and it is not a role for a frontend-only developer. The ideal person has strong Flutter experience, is comfortable working across the stack with Python and Django, and - critically - has the product instinct and UI sensibility to design and build great-looking interfaces without a dedicated designer in the team.
REQUIRED PROFILE
- Strong full-stack development experience - comfortable owning features from concept through to deployment
- Strong UI/UX awareness and frontend design sensibility - no dedicated designer in the team
- Comfortable making design decisions and building intuitive, polished interfaces independently
- Product-minded approach - you think about the user, not just the implementation
- Able to work in a small, lean engineering team where individuals carry real weight
- Startup or scale-up experience strongly preferred - you must thrive with ownership, pace, and ambiguity
REQUIRED TOOLS / STACK EXPOSURE
- Flutter (Android, iOS, and/or Huawei) - primary mobile framework, this is non-negotiable
- Python and Django REST Framework - solid backend experience required
- Vue.js or equivalent modern frontend framework (Vue experience is a strong advantage)
- RESTful API development and integration
- AWS or similar cloud infrastructure exposure
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with IoT or hardware-adjacent software (LPR cameras, QR scanners, smart kiosks)
- Payment gateway integrations (SnapScan, Zapper, card payments)
- Exposure to PropTech, mobility, or smart city technology
- Modern AI-assisted development tooling
REQUIRED DOMAIN EXPERIENCE
- Experience building and shipping consumer-facing mobile or web products
- B2B2C or product company background preferred - consulting or agency-only backgrounds are unlikely to be the right fit
Compensation: R50 000 – R80 000 per month CTC
