NIE invites suitable applications for the position of Technical Specialist in the Physical Education & Sports Science Department. This is a 2-year contract post.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the cleanliness of sports facilities.
• Oversee the monthly checks for AEDs and first aid kits and ensure that the first aid kits are well maintained.
• Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of the NIE training pool.
• Assist in procurement of sports facilities’ maintenance contracts and equipment.
• On-site supervision of maintenance works.
• Assist in internal and external bookings of sports facilities and billings for the usage of facilities by external organisations.
• Assist faculty members to set up sports equipment for classes.
• Provide logistics support for sports-related events.
• Assist in the setting up of equipment at individual stations for physical proficiency tests.
• Perform regular inspection of sports facilities to ensure that users adhere to rules and regulations and to inform supervisor in the event when faulty equipment is spotted.
• Conduct briefing for visitors to PESS sports facilities.
• Conduct safety briefing for users of PESS sports facilities.
• Opening and locking of all sports facilities when on duty.
• Perform counter duties such as issuing of equipment and booking of facilities.
• Perform inspection of fitness rooms particularly during peak hours’ usage
• Perform first aid duties in the event of injuries.
• Perform any other duties assigned by PESS management.

Requirements

• A Polytechnic Diploma in Sport Management, Exercise or Sports Science.
• Relevant experience in handling and managing sporting equipment/facilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes.
• Experience in life-saving with a valid Bronze Medallion Certificate.
• Training in First Aid & AED would be an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Able to perform shift work. (Working hours: Morning shift: 8am to 5.15pm, Afternoon shift: 12.45pm to 10pm)

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is looking for a Research Assistant (RA) who can work as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning (ML) Researcher and ML Engineer working in collaboration with external NUS and NParks cross-functional teams.

This is a full-time Research Assistant (with Honours degree) position at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) under Dr. Sit Ji-Jon and A/P Lee Yee Hui. In this project, the RA must fill the 3 roles of Data Scientist, Machine Learning (ML) Researcher and ML Engineer at a proportion of 2:5:3 respectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform fieldwork
• Curation of remote sensing data from UAV mapping missions across multiple forested sites.
• Explore and implement biodiversity classification and canopy analysis algorithms based on UAV remote sensing data.
• Build the system infrastructure for serving the UAV data to the research methods
• Provide data visualization for end-users.
• Build a ML model that integrates the results from Phase 1 with data from NUS Ecology and Geospatial teams for forecasting forest growth and recovery
• Construct a professional data portal for multiple users to conveniently enter the data and view the results using industry-standard software engineering practices.
• Liaise work between NTU, NUS and NParks to bring the project to a successful ending.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or Honours degree in Computer Science or related with relevant research/work experience.
• Academic background in remote sensing, machine learning or data science
• Experience in software engineering (from industry or equivalent)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
